The Konect V5.06 release is still scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday the 22nd of May 2019 at 6:00PM AEST.
At the same time as the release on Wednesday night, we will be migrating our supplied basemaps to new servers. This migration is required as our supplier is moving infrastructure. To ensure these new basemap are loaded onto the Konect App a sync will be required after the new version has been installed. USERS HAVE UNTIL SATURDAY THE 15TH OF JUNE 2019 TO SYNC ALL DEVICE BASEMAPS. After this date the old infrastructure will be turned off by our supplier and any old basemaps will no longer work.
THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SECURITY RELEASE and impacts all Konect users.
Installation of the release will be MANDATORY for both Konect Manager and Konect App.
- Konect Manager users will be prompted to complete a compulsory upgrade to Version 5.06.
- Konect App will auto update to Version 5.06 when the app is re-started following the release.
USER’S WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTINUE USING KONECT IF THE UPGRADE IS NOT INSTALLED.
Impacts:
Konect Manager:
At start-up, users will be prompted to upgrade to the release version. Organisations that require IT support for software installations will need to schedule the appropriate IT assistance to minimise the inconvenience to Konect users.
Konect App:
Existing Accounts on devices will AUTOMATICALLY MIGRATE to the new Organisation / Environment security structure – The term Account will no longer be used, it has been replaced by Environment.
- ONLINE Projects – If a device only uses online projects, it is recommended that following the release and prior to commencing work, the App IS RESET (Settings > Re-set App) and the user logs in using the Organisation Code, User Name and Password.
- OFFLINE Projects – It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that projects are SYNCHRONISED PRIOR TO THE KONECT APP RELEASE (6:00PM AEST on 22/05/2019).
Impact of the new security processes for offline projects and offline users is discussed in the release notes which can now be access via the following link:
In the interest of preserving large offline caches (large numbers of photographs) on devices, it is recommended that, unlike the online process, the software IS NOT RESET unless it is absolutely necessary to do so.
